I was questing in the Plaguelands the other day, working on the Full Caravan achievement (since I’d started questing in the zone while hunting for Mr. Grubbs). I was glad to see they kept the Darrowshire quest chain in even after the Shattering.
This quest chain has always been one of my favourites, and is an excellent example of how World of Warcraft isn’t “just” a game, but also contains masterful storytelling that can really tug at your heartstrings. Although they vastly simplified it and significantly reduced the travel time necessary to complete it, it’s still quite excellent.
And speaking of Darrowshire – I’d always promised myself that if I ever got a World of Warcraft weblog, the song “Darrowshire” by Cranius would be the one of the first videos I would link to. It’s an excellent, haunting rendition of the story – and it makes me wish I had that kind of talent.
Of course, it’s been stuck in my brain (again) since I played through the quest chain. But as far as songs go, this is a good one to have stuck.
