Aquatic form and Vashj’ir

One of the first handful of quests you do in Vashj’ir provides you with a nifty seahorse mount. If you’re not aware of this, you’ve been living under a rock (or haven’t levelled in Vashj’ir yet).

What you may not know, on the other hand, is this: if you’re a druid, you don’t need the mount to move quickly around Vashj’ir.

Why? Sea Legs (the permanent buff you obtain from an earlier quest) stacks with aquatic form. Which means your aquatic form will go as fast as the seahorse mount will, with the added bonuses of being instant cast and enabling you to loot (and herb, skin and mine) while shapeshifted. This can save you a lot of time.

You can test it yourself with this macro:

/script x=GetUnitSpeed(“player”) DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(format(“Speed: %d yds/sec, %.1f kph, %.1f mph, %d%% normal run speed”,x,x*3600/1093.6133,x*45/22,x/7*100))

(Note that you have to be actually moving for the macro to register your speed, so just press autorun and swim.)

I’m not sure whether this is intended or not, but either way it’s a pretty nice bonus for druids, turning the normally almost-useless aquatic form into a watery equivalent of swift flight form while you’re in Vashj’ir.
